Winford W. Fish, 92, of Collinsville, Ill., born April 2, 1923, in Kennett, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 4, 2016.
Winford served his country valiantly, in the U.S. Army during World War II, and later working at Granite City Steel, Granite City, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Estle and Elsie Mae, nee Trobaugh, Fish.
Surviving are his wife, Opal, nee Thompson, Fish, whom he married in Conway, Ark.; children, Gail (Gary) Leiniger of Florissant, Mo., Guy (Nancy) Thompson of Edwardsville, Ill., Jerry (Betty) Fish of Granite City, Ill., Jack (Karen) Fish of Magnolia, Texas, Sherry (Robert) Atchisson of Collinsville, Ill., Sheila (Dennis) Rushing of Bethalto, Ill., Sandra Fish of Collinsville, Ill., and John (Rene) Fish of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Howard Fish of Kennett, Mo.; sisters, Betty (Roy) Mason of Wright City, Mo., and Leona Garner of Statesboro, Ga.; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Veterans Administration or to the Salvation Army.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral will begin at noon Thursday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, Ill.
