Zachary Ray Self, 38, of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away on October 3, 2021, in Collinsville, Illinois.

Zachary was born May 5, 1983, in Belleville, Illinois, to Wesley Ray and Denise Marie (Samples) Self.

He was a self-employed worker in the construction field.  Zach was a barrel of fun with the most contagious laugh.  He had the best sense of humor and was known as a real character.  He was loved by all, but was definitely a grandmother's boy and best friend to his sisters.  He had the best smile and the most beautiful blue eyes.  Zach's love of animals and love for his family was unsurpassed. Zach had a heart of gold and will be missed by all.

Survivors include his parents:  Wesley (Janet) Self of Collinsville, Illinois, and Denise (Sandy) Self of Collinsville, Illinois; son, Ian Self of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter, Alyssa Marie Self of St. Louis, Missouri; sisters:  April (Brant) Hornberger of La Center, Kentucky, and Janel Self of Collinsville, Illinois; step-siblings: Matthew Chandler, Michelle Chandler, and Jacob Johnson; nieces: Alexandria Mix and Lacee Hornberger; nephew, Austin Hornberger; and 5 great nieces and nephews.

Cremation has been accorded by Herr Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Collinsville, Illinois. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
