Zigmund Francis Konieczny, 88, of Troy, Ill., formerly of Collinsville, Ill., born Sunday, March 7, 1926, in Madison, Ill., died Monday, January 19, 2015, at Aspen Creek of Troy, Troy, Ill.
He worked at McDonnell Douglas as a Quality Engineer from 1951 until his retirement in 1987. After his retirement, he worked for Cullop Jennings Florist, Collinsville, Ill. He was a kind and caring man who volunteered much of his time to Mind's Eye (formerly known as Radio Information Services). He was a scout master for the Boy Scouts, the Collinsville High School Band Parents Association, and an elder at First Presbyterian Church, Granite City, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Frances , nee Fronczak, Konieczny; four brothers, Joseph Konieczny Jr., Stanley Konieczny, Walter Konieczny, and Edward Konieczny; three sisters, Mary Miller, Stella Sellers, and Helen Venarsky.
Surviving are his loving wife of 53 years, Alice, nee Vegh, Konieczny of Troy, Ill.; a son, Michael (Amy) Konieczny of Troy, Ill.; a daughter, Suzanne (Chris) Watkins of Chanhassen, Minn.; two sisters, Clara Popovchak of Pontoon Beach, Ill., and Juanita Hejmej of Maryville, Ill.; five grandchildren, Jack, Anne, Aaron, Alex and Kathryn; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, Ill.
